Washington Wizards head coach Wes Unseld Jr. credited better rim protection, improved rebounding, more deflections, and Delon Wright’s return for the team’s recent turnaround on defense (6-1 record in their last seven games).

(via Washington Wizards):

Reporter: “Where have you seen the biggest improvement or growth in the team over this seven game stretch where you’ve won six games?”

Unseld Jr: “I think defensively. We’ve done a really good job I think at times from quarter to quarter or have a certain stretch. But the rim protection, the defensive rebounding, we’re getting a lot more deflections, increasing the block shots is a big piece of that. So I think there’s a lot of little things, but all those things add up.”

Reporter: “How much of the improved rim protection and improved defense do you think stems from the two big lineup?”

Unseld Jr: “That’s part of it. I think part of it too is getting Delon [Wright] back. He impacts it right away. He had another high deflection night himself.”
