Last year Nikola Jokic won his second consecutive NBA MVP award. He is producing comparable numbers this year and in addition the Nuggets are sitting atop the Western Conference.

A case can be made for the Serbian center to win his third straight MVP this year, but some of the voters might be hesitant to vote Jokic because he has already won two MVPs in a row. That would be wrong according to Denver’ head coach Michael Malone.

If people’s reason for not giving Nikola a third MVP is because he’s already won two in a row, “that’s lazy,” Malone said, per Mike Singer.

This season Jokic is averaging 25.5 points, 10.9 rebounds and 9.5 assists in 33.7 minutes per game.
