The Denver Nuggets have placed a strong emphasis on conditioning and defensive execution during their opening training camp sessions ahead of the 2026–27 NBA season.
Working out at the University of Colorado Boulder’s facilities, Denver has been attempting to eliminate early mistakes while helping its returning players and offseason additions regain competitive fitness.
The opening practices have featured considerable intensity, with the team’s veterans pushing for greater defensive accountability as the roster begins developing its identity for the upcoming campaign.
Head coach David Adelman also considers Colorado’s altitude an important conditioning tool, allowing the Nuggets to challenge their players physically throughout camp.
While several newcomers are still becoming familiar with their surroundings, Denver has retained its established starting unit, something Nikola Jokic believes should help the team maintain continuity.
“It feels like normal, feels like second nature. It feels like you know what we should be doing,” he noted simply.
The Nuggets will begin their five-game preseason schedule Sunday against the Utah Jazz at the CU Events Center.
Following their exhibition schedule, Denver will travel to Oklahoma City for its regular-season opener against the Thunder on October 22.
