Boasting his shining championship badges with the Golden State Warriors, Klay Thompson had something to echo as they picked up the marquee Christmas Day win over budding rivals in Memphis Grizzlies.

Speaking in postgame of the emphatic 123-109 victory on Sunday, Thompson didn’t mince words as he voiced out displeasure on the Grizzlies’ confidence of initial talk regarding dynasty.

“Man, they’re talking about dynasty at all. You can’t talk dynasty when you haven’t won before,” Thompson said regarding the Grizzlies. “I don’t think people realize how hard that is, the commitment and sacrifice to take. … I thought that was premature talk.”

“But they bring the best out of us and I think we do the same. Even though we don’t like them, we got to respect them because they are a threat.”

Thompson may seem to direct his blasting back in last season, wherein Stephen Curry made it known that Dillon Brooks was chirping about a dynasty in the making within Memphis.

“They know that we’re going to come every single year,” the 26-year-old Brooks said after scoring 30 points and making Curry work for all of his 29 (on 10-of-27 shooting overall and 6-of-17 shooting from 3-point range). “We’re young, and they’re getting old. So, they know we’re coming every single year.”

Curry, true to form, was ready with a counter.

“He’s said a lot of crazy things,” Curry told The Athletic with a smile while glancing at nearby cameras from NBA TV. “He called himself a dynasty already, so you’ve got to figure. On to the next round. Western Conference finals, we’re back. Let’s goooo!”

Both Grizzlies and the Warriors had a chippy Christmas Day matchup. As such, it can only be noted that their heated faceoff can be pointed at their conflict since last season.

The two Western Conference powers will face each other again on Jan. 26 in the Bay Area. With their season rematch already looming, all hards are certainly on deck for both sides.
