It is his fifteenth NBA season for Nicolas Batum and the third one with the Clippers. The 34-year-old veteran revealed that before getting picked by Los Angeles he was thinking about retirement.

He did not expect to get an important role in the league, especially on a team that is considered a contender.

“Two years ago, I didn’t think I would be in that spot today still playing major minutes, have a role for a contending team, no,” Batum said, per Andrew Greif of Los Angeles Times. “I was more about retirement.”

This season the French forward is averaging 6.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 20.9 minutes per game.
