Hawks’ star Trae Young did not appreciate the media asking about the reported exchange with the head coach Nate McMillan.

“It was just a situation. We’re all grown men here and sometimes we don’t always agree,” the two-time NBA All-Star said. “It’s just unfortunate that private situations and private conversations get out to the public, but I guess that’s what the world we live in now. I’ll just focus on basketball and focus on helping my team win and that’s what I got to be focusing on.”

When asked directly why he missed the game on Friday, Young appeared to be a little bit annoyed. Again, proceeded by saying that it was a private matter.

“It’s hard people who don’t know the full situation to understand it,” he said. “Like I said, it’s a private matter again. It made public which is unfortunate and if it stayed private, it probably wouldn’t have been as big of a deal.”

This season Young is averaging 27.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 9.6 assists in 35.5 minutes per game for Atlanta.
