The Warriors decided not to suspend Draymond Green for punching Jordan Poole. Instead, the four-time NBA champion was given an undisclosed fine and will be allowed to re-join the team on Thursday.
According to Golden State’s head coach Steve Kerr, the player deserves the benefit of the doubt because of the long-term relationship that the two have had. Green is expected to play in regular season opener against the Lakers.
“Draymond and I have been together for eight years. We’ve had plenty of run-ins … (but) I trust him,” Kerr said, per Marc Stein. “He broke our trust with this incident, but I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt because I think he’s earned that — and I think our team feels the same way.”
