There seems to be a foregone conclusion among NBA analysts and around the league that the Lakers will part ways with Russell Westbrook this offseason.

Even the actions on social media from the former NBA MVP himself seems to indicate that. Westbrook scrubbed all the Lakers pictures from his Instagram profile and was caught liking a post asking him leave Los Angeles.

However, there is still uncertainty about his future. It has been reported that the legendary coach Phil Jackson will advise the purple and gold in their search for a new head coach after the team fired Frank Vogel.

According to reports, it was Vogel’s job to integrate Westbrook into the team, which was viewed as a failure. Jackson, has been a fan of Westbrook and his opinion could impact the future of Russ.

“And how’s this for a tidbit to tie this thread up: Phil Jackson is known to have been a fan of Westbrook’s throughout his career. Sources say Phil Jackson has no interest in taking on this coaching job (or any other) himself — let’s just stop that rumor right here — but his view of Westbrook is relevant. As we’ve established, Jackson’s voice matters again.”
