Breaking record held by legends is something that every NBA players dreams of. Last night Nets power forward Nic Claxton broke a record which belonged to Shaquille O’Neal. But it’s nothing to be proud of.

Claxton missed 10 free-throws in a row in Game 4 of the first round series against the Celtics and set a new record for most missed free-throws to start a playoff game.

Previously the record was held by O’Neal who missed 8 free-throws in a row back in 2006 while playing for the Miami Heat. But unlike Shaq, who a championship that same year, Claxton’s team was swept by Boston.

Had Claxton made at least five of those free-throws, the Nets would have won the game, provided that nothing else changed. Brooklyn lost the do-or-die game by just 4 points.
