The Clippers and the Lakers not only share the same city but also share the same venue. The purple and gold have more fans and are more successful historically with 17 championships whereas the Clippers are yet to win a title.

It is difficult to compete with the Lakers in terms of following and popularity in Los Angeles. But according to Clippers guard Reggie Jackson, his team has a spot in L.A. and is a heart of the city.

Via Mirjam Swanson of Los Angeles Daily News:

“I understand what it is in this city, it definitely is overwhelmed by Lakers fans. But I feel like Clippers Nation is like the heart. It truly is L.A. It’s more so. No shot to them over there, but they’re the lights. They’re bright lights. They’re Hollywood. That’s the Lakers. We kinda understood that. They’re the show. That’s what people called them for so long.

“But I feel like we’re definitely the heart of the city – or that’s something we want to embody.”

The two L.A. teams are next to each other in the standings with the Clippers (35-34) taking 8th place and the Lakers (29-37) sitting in 9th place. Though the former are without their two superstars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
