Damian Lillard has spent his entire NBA career so far with the Portland Trail Blazers. Despite serious interest in him from other teams, he remained loyal to the team that drafted him in 2012.

Just before the trade deadline Portland made a major move by trading Lillard’s close friend and one of the team’s stars CJ McCollum. He, like Dame, played for the Trail Blazers since his rookie year.

The trade signalled a new chapter in Portland, causing speculations that Lillard will be the next to move. The 31-year-old point guard has said previously that he is not interested in playing for draft picks.

However, it has been reported that the Blazers are not planning to blow up the team and instead are going to build around Lillard to remain competitive. It appears that the superstar is on board.

“I’m loyal to what I believe,” Lillard tells Complex Sports. “I do love living in Portland. I do love playing for the Trail Blazers. But I’ve built this. I’ve been part of this for 10 years. I’ve been part of the change here and us being a successful franchise. I know what means something to me in my heart. And that’s winning a championship here.”

Lillard is currently recovering from a surgery and will be evaluated in the coming weeks. This season he appeared in 29 games for Portland averaging 24 points, 4.1 rebounds and 7.3 assists in 36.4 minutes per game.
