Carmelo Anthony had a big game against his former team the Portland Trail Blazers as he scored 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds coming off the bench to play 33 minutes.

He was the team’s second top scorer behind Anthony Davis who had 30 points. After the game Davis talked about Carmelo’s impact on the team.

“He’s been great, he’s been helping me all year, especially in the post,” AD said about Melo. “He’s been a dominant post player his whole career and now he’s here and he’s helped me with double-teams and moves and things like that.

“But he’s always talking, he’s always talking to me, to the guys about what he sees on the floor, what he thinks we should do, what we should be running.

“And he’s been great for us. His shot-making ability has been off the charts. He’s came here and he’s playing extremely well for us. I saw something and I was gonna stretch before the game his last two he was I think two, one for ten or two for ten from three and it just like surprised me. I’m like ‘That was strange, I never noticed that.’

“And then he comes out tonight on fire. His play-making, his shot-making ability has been great for us. It gets the crowd into it, it gets our team into it especially when he’s got it gets everybody going.”

Melo is averaging 13.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1 assist in 26.8 minutes per game in year 19 in the NBA at the age of 37.
