The Washington Wizards are shutting down franchise player Bradley Beal for one week due to a wrist injury, per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Beal was initially announced out for the Wizards’ next two games on Monday due to a sprained left wrist. With this latest update, rookie head coach Wes Unseld Jr. certainly has to shuffle his deck and call a ‘Next man up’ mentality with urgency, as D.C. continues to slide down with a five-game losing streak and filling a lowly 12th seed in the East after a promising start.

Beal sustained his wrist injury in the third period of Washington’s 115-95 defeat against the Memphis Grizzlies last week.

The 28-year-old star is averaging 22.1 points, 4.2 assists, and 4.1 rebounds for the Wizards.
