Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid has entered health and safety protocols and could miss several games, according to Shams Charania.

Tonight was originally scheduled to be a planned night of rest against the New York Knicks on the front end of a back-to-back for the four-time All-Star.

Embiid is expected to miss at least 10 days, unless he returns two negative PCR tests 24 hours apart, Charania also notes.

The 27-year-old is now the fourth 76ers player to enter the league’s protocols joining Tobias Harris, Matisse Thybulle and Isaiah Joe.

The team is also missing Danny Green who has been out for the last few games with a hamstring injury.

Through nine games so far this season, Embiid is averaging 21.4 points, 9.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting 43.5% from the field.

When Embiid missed a game last week, Andre Drummond started, played big minutes and stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals.
