After Anadolu Efes beat Zalgiris Kaunas at home (94-60), one of the best on the court, young blood Filip Petrusev, told TalkBasket.net that the defending champions have to play better than in the first six games.

“Yes, it was a good game. We had to play better due to the defeat in the last round that was a disaster. Now, we reacted good after that loss. I, like all other teammates, didn’t play well in the last match, so we all had to play with more energy in the defense and made our job easier on offense.”

The young talent from Serbia was playing for Mega last season and this was his debutant season in the EuroLeague.

“This was the huge step, huge difference especially when you compare strength. Here you have more contact so I am still getting used to all this, but I think I have the quality to play in the EuroLeague, to be here. I will continue to work and catch all the details that needs to be caught.”

His first contract in Europe was with a club that is focused on working with young players. The excellent performance during last season, and the work with the young team of Serbia, made Filip interesting for the reigning champion of the EuroLeague. Now, he is playing with one more Serbian player (Vasilije Micic), who is helping him adapt to Efes’ system.

“He likes to talk and I like to listen” said Filip about his experienced teammate, who also started his career with Mega. “We both played in Mega, but afterwards he was coached by Saras (Sarunas Jasikevicius) and Pesic (Svetislav Pesic), so he has lot of experience that can pass to me.”

Being in Efes, the club that won the EuroLeague last season, Filip is well-aware of the goals and knows what is expected.

“The goal of the team is to return to wining path, to win as many games as possible. Also, if possible, why not to try to repeat the last year success.”
