The focus of the Liga Endesa’s eighteenth week was solely aimed at the bottom end of the table, as Seville’s resurgence continued in thrilling style and Gipuzkoa relied on a wonder show from Daniel Diez.

Seville went the distance and then some, but ultimately found a way to edge Zaragoza 99-97 after two periods of overtime on the road.

A three from Nikola Radicevic gave Seville an 84-82 lead with 34 seconds remaining, but Zaragoza forced a second period of extra time from the foul line.

From there though, the new-found resilience of Seville shone through and despite missed opportunities, they created second chances thanks to key offensive rebounds, resulting in trips to the foul line and adding to the desperate defence in the final four seconds, they grabbed their fifth win of the season.

Radicevic led Seville with 18 points as they collect back-to-back wins in the league for the first time this season.

The win for Seville puts them up a place and places Fuenlabrada into last, after they lost 86-69 away to Real Madrid in a local derby.

Fuenlabrada had decent contributions from Andy Panko [18 points] and Steve Buritt, who led all scorers with 20, but the Euroleague side, fresh off their el’Clasico success over Barcelona on Thursday were always in control. Sergio Rodriguez led them with 12 points.

Third from bottom Burixa d’Or were stubborn, but eventually lost 86-77 at Bilbao, who stay in the top 3.

Gipuzkoa dropped Andorra closer to the relegation zone, after they won 88-77 in the principality.

Despite a strong fourth quarter from the hosts, the damage was done in the first three as Daniel Diez drained six three-pointers, en route to 32 points, which helped Gipuzkoa to victory.

Moving to the top end of Liga Endesa and Unicaja Malaga are still leading the way after an 81-77 win against a veteran Joventut outfit.

Badalona’s defeat drops them a place to fifth, and replacing them in fourth is Barcelona, who beat Tenerife 87-79 in Catalunya.

Elesewhere around the league, Laboral Kutxa thrashed Gran Canaria 109-70 behind 25 points from Tornike Shengelia. Valencia were 73-62 winners away to Rio Monbus and Estudiantes eased to a 90-79 win at home to UCAM Murcia.
