Golden State Warriors re-signed Gary Payton II, the team announced Tuesday. Payton is coming back to the Dubs as the 15th man on the roster.

Payton beat out Avery Bradley, Mychal Mulder, and Jordan Bell. With this signing, the Warriors provide the team with a bit more cap flexibility and tax savings, replacing Payton’s old guaranteed contract.

Payton spent the preseason with the Warriors, recovering from a hernia repair. He only played in the team’s last preseason game.

Payton is expected to provide plenty of energy and effort as a point-of-attack defender. Payton appeared in 13 games with Raptors 905, averaging 10.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.
