Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons is understood to be nearing a return to the team, with The Athletic’s Shams Charania reporting as much.

According to Charania, who cites sources, the Sixers and Simmons’ agent, Rich Paul, have been working on coming up with a resolution that will see the player head back to Philly.

“The 76ers and Ben Simmons’ agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, have been working around the clock on a resolution to have the three-time All-Star return to Philadelphia, sources told The Athletic.”

Simmons could report to the team as soon as this week. Elton Brand, the 76ers GM, and head coach Doc Rivers have been in constant communication over the past few days and the source claims the latter will speak to Simmons at some point in the very near future.

The guard is on a four-year deal worth $147 million with the team and Philadelphia is under no obligation to meet his trade demands. It’s said that the fines he has been handed have taken a toll on the 25-year-old and his camp has run out of leverage, which is why a return is now on the cards.
