Last season the NBA was shocked by the news of LaMarcus Aldridge announcing his retirement from basketball just five game into his tenure with the Brooklyn Nets. Five months later he is back to the league and is set to help the Nets to compete for a championship.

During the media day the 36-year-old remembered the game against the Los Angeles Lakers on the night of 10 April 2021 when his heartbeat fell off which led to hospitalization. After the incident he followed the recommendations from the doctors and called it a day.

“It was a combination of things that I’d never experienced,” Aldridge said, per Mark W. Sanchez of New York Post. “It was an overwhelming 24 hours of new experiences with a heart condition. … It was a very scary night for me.”
