Richard Jefferson made an interesting statement regarding the Los Angeles Lakers and whether they are the grand favorite to win the 2022 NBA championship.
Jefferson, a former NBA champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers (2016), doesn’t believe the Lakers are better than fellow title contender Brooklyn Nets.
“Well, they’re not better than Brooklyn. Yeah, we’ll argue that point. They’re not better than Brooklyn,” Jefferson said during the Road Trippin’ podcast.
Thanks to the addition of Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony, the Lakers immediately emerged as the favorite to go all the way and reach the NBA Finals.
Meanwhile, the Nets have their own Big-3 in Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden and are expected to make a championship run next season.
