Golden State Warriors were interested in Dennis Schroder, before the former Lakers’ guard agreed to a deal with the Boston Celtics, per Wes Goldberg of the Mercury Times.

The Warriors have re-tooled their roster around Stephen Curry by adding veteran forwards Nemanja Bjelica, Andre Iguodala and Otto Porter Jr.

Schroder was another target for Golden State. The German guard recently signed the mid-level exception with the Boston Celtics.

“According to a league source, the Warriors did inquire about Dennis Schroder. But the former Los Angeles Lakers point guard on Tuesday signed with the Boston Celtics for the full taxpayer mid-level exception,” Goldberg wrote.

The Golden State Warriors’ defense was great last season, but several times, they struggled offensively, especially in the non-Stephen Curry lineups. Dennis Schroder would have given them another scoring option next to their superstar.
