Phoenix Suns were able to sit Chris Paul out for most of the second half of Game 5 vs. the Los Angeles Lakers after Wesley Matthews bumped into CP3’s shoulder.

However, Suns’ head coach Monty Williams gave a promising update on Paul’s injury after his team went to get a 3-2 lead over the Lakers in the Western Conference opening round playoff series.

“He said he had his strength,” Williams told reporters, adding the Suns’ medical staff will make a further assessment Wednesday.

Paul registered nine points, six assists and four rebounds in 23 minutes as Phoenix secured a 115-85 blowout victory. The Suns will continue to monitor the situation as the team is heading back to LA for Game 6.
