Devin Booker made an excellent playoff debut leading the Phoenix Suns to the win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Booker had a franchise-record performance for the Suns, scoring 34 points.

After the end of the contest, Booker claimed Chris Paul going down with a shoulder injury made the Suns ‘more locked in’ for the rest of the game.

(per ESPN’s Rachel Nichols):

“Chris went down early, I think that got our team more locked in,” Booker said. “To understand that every possession matters. That was a big win for us.”

Booker and Ayton picked up the slack on the offensive end combining for 55 points to lead Phoenix to the victory. With his 34 points, Booker set a record for scoring in a playoff debut for the franchise.

The Suns will defend their 1-0 lead on Tuesday as they face the Lakers for Game 2 of the Western Conference first round series.
