The Los Angeles Lakers stalled in the second half against the Dallas Mavericks as they wasted a 12-point lead and ended up losing by 15 points.

The reigning NBA champions missed all 10 of their three-point attempts in the fourth quarter as they struggled to make shots, especially in the second half. They had 38.4% field goals and 26.7% 3-pointers.

James Worthy, who won three titles as a Laker, shared his thoughts on what happened to his former team in this game. “We’re game. For me, when they were up 17 I thought they were on their way to some success, AD coming back. I don’t know what happened,” he said on Spectrum SportsNet.

“It just seems like they’re waiting for something to happen, waiting for the playoffs to start. They just didn’t play their normal second half. They usually really lock down defensively in the 3rd-4th quarter. But they didn’t have anything on either end. They just didn’t have an answer for that pick and roll.

“I mean, Powell is not that dominant of a player. They just could not contain Luka. He had the ball, his dribble was live too long. And they had no weak side defense and they hit the three’s and the Lakers didn’t.”
