Larry Nance Jr. has been out with an undetermined long week illness that caused him rapid weight loss, according to

Nance issue is not COVID-related as he went through three negative tests last week. The dynamic forward missed Cleveland’s last four games including a three-game road trip.

“Thursday will be Nance’s fifth straight absence and despite finally turning the corner on Wednesday and being “on the mend,” as one source said, Nance probably won’t play in the weekend back-to-back at home, with the training staff wanting him to regain some of the lost weight and stamina first. He is eager to return. A source said Nance lost nearly 20 pounds during that time and had a tough time keeping food down,” Chris Fedor wrote.

Nance has 27 starts in 29 appearances this season for the Cleveland Cavaliers averaging 10.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.8 steals, per game.

The Cavs’ forward missed also 12 games with a fractured left hand during February. For his team, Nance is a great two-way presence being able to guard effectively inside and outside the paint.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are near the bottom of the Eastern Conference with an 18-32 record. They are still having hope for a play-in tournament spot being 3.5 games behind the 10th seed.
