John Collins of the Atlanta Hawks has been diagnosed with a lateral ankle sprain and a bone bruise, and he is expected to be sidelined for at least a week, the team announced.
Collins suffered the injury during Tuesday’s game against the Phoenix Suns. Collins has been excellent for Atlanta being a focal point of the team’s offense.
He is averaging 18.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists shooting 54 percent from the field and 38 percent from the three-point range.
Danilo Gallinari will see a significant boost in his minutes for as long as Collins will remain out. The Hawks are in the play-in tournament race with 23-24 record.
