The Minnesota Timberwolves are acquiring Ricky Rubio from the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Nos. 25 and 28 picks for a package that includes the No. 17 pick, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Rubio was just traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Thunder in the Chris Paul trade, but it was expected that he wouldn’t stay with the team.

The 30-year-old, who was drafted No. 5 in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Timberwolves, played the first six years of his NBA career in Minnesota.

Rubio “quickly warmed” to the idea of a return to the Timberwolves when it was brought up to him and said he wants to be a part of making them a playoff team, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.
