Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards addressed his performance following Sunday’s 116-103 defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center. “Turning it over. Offensive rebounds. I had too many turnovers myself and I didn’t make enough shots. So, I don’t really think it got nothing to do with my team. It’s more so myself,” Edwards said.
He acknowledged the Thunder’s defensive pressure as a factor but emphasized accountability. “They as a defense create a lot of turnovers…we know what to expect. So that’s on us. That’s on me…turning the ball over.”
Edwards discussed the effect of his knee on his game. “Yeah, I’ll be all right,” he said when asked if he felt limited, noting that it did not fully impact his performance.
The guard highlighted the Timberwolves’ efforts to involve teammates. “We trying to get it to him [Julius Randle] as much as possible…he found his rhythm tonight. Hopefully that carries over.” Edwards praised Randle’s all-around performance. “He played great on both sides of the ball…if he can find a balance, but he did great tonight.”
Despite the loss, Edwards remained focused on the team’s outlook. “Yeah, I feel good. We got a nice game,” signaling a readiness to bounce back as Minnesota heads home.
The Timberwolves were hampered by turnovers, committing 22 compared to Oklahoma City’s seven. Edwards scored 19 points, while Randle led Minnesota with 32. The Thunder were paced by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 20 points and 10 assists, Chet Holmgren’s 21 points, and Isaiah Joe’s 20 points, improving their record to 53-15.
Minnesota will host the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, while the Thunder travel to Orlando.
