The Charlotte Hornets have emerged as a potential suitor for Houston Rockets All-Star Russell Westbrook, according to Shams Charania.

A couple of other teams have also been mentioned as a possibility for the 2017 MVP including the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers.

The Hornets could make a push for Westbrook, as they have movable veteran contracts, as well as the Jordan Brand connection, Charania notes.

So far in talks, the Rockets have been protective of both Westbrook and James Harden, but there is still plenty of time between now and next week’s NBA draft.

Westbrook, who turned 32 today, has asked out of Houston after only one season with the team, as he has “informed team officials that he has been uneasy about the team’s accountability and culture, and has a desire to return to his prior, floor-general role in Oklahoma City,” via The Athletic.
