Frank Vogel will need to do some scheming ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat.
The Heat used zone defense for a good amount of time against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. As a result, Frank Vogel spoke with his former coach Rick Pitino, who shared some advice regarding the zone defense, as ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported.
Zone defense is a common theme at the collegiate level and Pitino faced a variety of zonal defensive strategies through his legendary career in the NCAA.
Vogel played at Kentucky for three seasons (1995-1998) before taking up coaching back in 2001.
