Reports have been swirling around social media that Toronto Raptors big man Marc Gasol is planning to end his NBA career and sign with FC Barcelona.

It was reportedly all but a done deal that Gasol would return home to Spain, according to FC Barcelona podcast host Sergi Carmona.

Doubts about the initial report arose, as Carmona made his Twitter account private and Barcelona head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius publicly refuted the rumor.

“We have not talked to Marc Gasol. The important thing now is not to rush. If we have a real chance, we will go for it,” Jasikevicius said.

The Raptors have called re-signing Gasol a priority, as he is now a free agent due to his contract expiring at the end of the 2019-2020 season.

The 35-year-old has spent two seasons with the Raptors, averaging 8.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in 70 games.

Earlier this month, it was first reported that Gasol considered leaving the NBA and returning to Europe due to family reasons.

Now, we wait and see if any official news comes out soon regarding Gasol’s playing career.
