Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward is getting a step closer to returning after he went through “hard workouts” after practice on Sept. 14.
However, Hayward did not practice with the team, according to Tom Westerholm of MassLive.
“He didn’t go through our normal practice. … He looked good while he was going through it, but there’s a big difference between doing that and actually getting into a game,” head coach Brad Stevens said.
Hayward remains listed as doubtful for Game 1 on the latest injury report, but Stevens also recently said he expects Hayward to be available at some point in the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Celtics begin the series against the Miami Heat on Sept. 15.
