John Collins had a great season as an individual in an overall disappointing season for the Atlanta Hawks. The third-year player had 41 games and the best statistical season of his career.

Despite that, his name surfaced in trade talks, after he got suspended for several games. According to Collins, who was interviewed by Michael Scotto of the Hoopshype, the trade talks are not a bad thing for a player, as it means that other teams “are seeing his value”.

The trade talks I’m always aware that could be an option just because of me being an NBA player. I get it. I wasn’t too hung up over that. Whenever I’m in trade talks, that’s a good thing. That means other teams are seeing my value, want me, and so I try to take it as a good thing.

John Collins finished the shortened 2019-2020 season with 21.6 points and 10 rebounds shooting 40% from beyond the arc, all career highs. He also shot 58% from the field.

Collins will be eligible for his rookie scale extension the next season with him being considered an important piece of the Atlanta Hawks future.
