Russell Westbrook admitted the players needed a pause after the shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin over the weekend.

Blake was shot seven times in the back by the police and he is now paralyzed from the waist down.

“I think we all needed a pause – emotionally, physically, mentally. The pause was for a greater cause: for all the social issues in our world today. Based on recent police killings and shootings, it allowed us to use our platform,” Westbrook said, via Salman Ali of ESPN.

NBA players decided to boycott Wednesday’s and Thursday’s games and the playoffs will resume on Saturday.
