Isiah Thomas praised Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard for getting better year after year.

The NBA Hall of Famer said he is impressed by how much the versatile guard has grown and matured as a player over the years.

“The thing that I’m more impressed with Damian Lillard is his growth and maturity every year — as a person, as a leader and a basketball player.

If you remember when he first came into the league, one of the things I was critical of him was that I thought he needed to drive to the basket more, I thought he needed to get to the foul line more because he was such a great foul shooter.

He always had the deadly jumper, but I felt that putting it on the floor, getting to the basket, working on finishing around the rim, that part of his game would only make him a much better player if he wasn’t settling for the three all the time.

Every year, he’s added that portion to his game, and now, he’s a deadly driver to the basket in terms of making layups, he’s a deadly 3-point shooter, he’s a deadly foul-shooter,” Thomas said during his recent appearance on Sirius XM NBA Radio.

Lillard has been unstoppable since the restart of the season and is considered the best player in the Orlando “bubble”.
