Gordon Hayward suffered a severe ankle sprain in Game 1 of the opening playoff round vs Philadelphia. According to Tim Bontemps of ESPN, the Boston Celtics forward said he isn’t sure when he will be able to return in action.

In particular, he may overlap recovery by leaving the NBA bubble for his child’s birth. Hayward previously announced he’d leave the NBA bubble to rejoin his family for the occasion.

“As far as timeline, it’s kind of up in the air,” Hayward said. “It’s kind of just how my body responds to the rehab and all that stuff. So it’s hard to say. No one knows, really.”

Hayward averaged 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists per contest during the regular season shooting 45% from the field and 34% from the three-point line.
