LeBron James and Anthony Davis will be among the candidates in two main categories of this year’s NBA regular season awards.

The Los Angeles Lakers built a contender by trading for Anthony Davis and signing veteran pieces to surround their stars the previous offseason.

However, VP of Basketball Operations Rob Pelinka is not among the voting for the Executive of the Year award among those sampled, per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

Among the voting constituents sampled, there seemed to be little support for the candidacy of Lakers GM Rob Pelinka, who helped a massive turnaround to vault the team into the top seed in the West.

But some of his peers, many of whom had a history of dealing with Pelinka as an agent, seem to not want to give him much credit. Some cited the role of Rich Paul, the agent for James and Davis, in putting the team together. Others pointed to the Lakers being accused of and fined for tampering in recent years.

Rob Pelinka traded the young core of the Los Angeles Lakers to the Pelicans last summer to bring Davis in LA, while he made strides in placing valuable rotational pieces, such as Avery Bradley and Danny Green, to surround the superstar duo in order to form a contending team.
