Teams are trying to build continuity before they start the games that count in the Orlando bubble. These practices are the last chance to make sure players are able to play with each other before the games start. The practices gave Shai Gilgeous-Alexander an opportunity to see Andre Roberson’s superior defensive abilities first hand.

Andre Roberson has been out ever since early 2018. That was when Carmelo Anthony, Paul George and Russell Westbrook were still all playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Shai Gilgeous Alexander, a young upcoming player is new to this Thunder team and complimented Roberson’s defensive abilities.

According to Brandon Rahbar of the Daily Thunder, Gilgeous Alexander said:

“First thing I’ve noticed about Dre: smartest defensive player I’ve ever been around. He’s always doing the right thing defensively.”

The OKC Thunder are currently fifth in the Western Conference and have exceeded expectations. The return of Andre Roberson will help a team looking to surprise many after being able to make the playoffs. Especially since they lost their two best players. Players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the Thunder can learn a lot from Roberson’s defensive abilities.
