The NBA and NBPA have agreed to put into place an enhanced insurance plan for players to cover potential career-ending injuries in Orlando.

Along with conventional basketball injuries, the plan also covers career-ending injuries related to COVID-19, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

A potential group policy would cover players for “several million dollars.”

There is a belief among some players that they will be at greater risk of injury due to the lengthy break and limited access to basketball facilities during that break.

A group of young players including Bam Adebayo, De’Aaron Fox, Kyle Kuzma, Donovan Mitchell and Jayson Tatum were among players who expressed interest in an insurance policy for more protection.

All five of those members of the 2017 NBA Draft are eligible for contract extensions this offseason.
