While the NBA is still looking for the best format to resume the season, it seems the league’s general managers are divided on whether there should be any regular-season games or the teams should go directly to playoffs.

Per Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer:

“Half of the league’s general managers voted to go straight to the playoffs and cancel the rest of the regular season, sources said. Just over half of the league voted to reseed the playoffs 1 to 16 without factoring in conference affiliation.”

Since it is unlikely for the full regular season to be played upon NBA return, the teams with no chance of making the playoffs would be coming just to play a few games. Therefore, the NBA needs to find a solution that would give motivation for the bottom positioned teams to play.
