Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant accepted his MVP trophy in what was supposed to be your typical ‘thank you for everything, I’m honoured to be here’ kind of speech.

We got that … and much, much more.

Out of all the acceptance speeches, regardless of what award has been won over the years, Durant’s incredible lecture will go down as one of the most heart-warming and emotional of them all.

For 26 minutes, Durant spoke straight from the heart and the crowd in Oklahoma witnessed a down-to-earth, everyday kid pay tribute to everyone that meant something to him. From God, to Caron Butler, Derrick Fisher, Kendrick Perkins and more, KD reeled off his thank you list and saved the best for last.

In what will go down as one of the great moments in sports history; Durant paid tribute to his mother who was in the audience and with tears flooding out of the 25-year-old, he thanked his mother by proclaiming her as “the real MVP”.

If you didn’t respect KD [and if you’re one of them; why? –JH ], then you will after you have watched this.
