Fenerbahce have today confirmed that center Gasper Vidmar will miss the rest of the season with an ACL tear that he sustained in the Euroleague Top 16 loss to EA7 Milano on Thursday.

The club have also revealed that forward Luka Zoric will miss at least two weeks with an abdomen problem. He sustained the problem in the same game.

Vidmar’s absence was highly noticeable when he stepped out of the game in Italy during the second quarter and never returned.  The 26-year-old’s scans showed an ACL and meniscus tear that will require surgery, ruling him out for the entire season.

With Zoric also out and with veteran Oguz Savas absent as well, Fenerbahce, who currently own a 1-4 record in the Top 16 will be without a huge chunk of forwards and centers, meaning that Lithuanian international Linas Kleiza might have to shoulder a lot of the responsibility in the Turkish side’s upcoming games both domestically and in the Euroleague.

Fenerbahce, under legendary coach Zeljko Obradovic were tipped to be one of the main contenders for a spot in May’s Final Four, which is to take place in Milan. They coasted through the Regular Season, winning their first six games.

Vidmar averaged 5.2 points and 4.3 rebounds a game in the Euroleague with Fenerbahce, starting 13 out of the 15 games they have played so far this season.
