Serbian police have announced that former Sacramento Kings center Vlade Divac’s father has died in a car crash.

Milenko Divac, 77, died in hospital after the car struck a pole near Cacak, which is in the central part of Serbia. The car overturned several time. Divac’s 72-year-old mother, Radmilla, who was reportedly driving the car was injured but is expected to live.

Divac, who heads the Serbian Olympic Committee started and ended his 16-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers, he has also played for the Kings and the Charlotte Hornets.

The former Serbian international has appeared in the NBA All-Star Game in 2001. He made an appearance in Manchester in October for the pre-season game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
