A bus carrying Hungarian women’s side Uni Gyor has crashed en route to Sopron for a pre-season game leaving several players severely injured and two dead.

The two pronounced dead were team manager Peter Tapodi, who died instantly and coach Fuzy Akos, who died later on at the local hospital.

No one from the roster suffered life-threatening injuries but promising 19-year-old forward Natasa Kovacevic has had to have her left leg amputated due to extensive damage suffered. Her right foot has also believed to be amputated, according to local media.

The crash was caused by a car, driven by a 70-year-old male who went into the bus’ lane, so in order to avoid a head-on collision, the bus swerved to the right but could not avoid the fatal collision.

The 70-year-old driver, who suffered chest and head injuries has been arrested by local police for causing death by dangerous driving.
