Anadolu Efes has officially announced the signing of Zoran Planinic.

The Croatian guard has inked to a two-year deal, which is rumored to include a team option at the end of the first year.

After reducing the budget and literally going back to its original self in the late 90’s, Efes is now making better moves with less money. The high-spending days are behind, and Oktay Mahmuti’s team is taking somewhat logical steps.

Planinic is said to be making a little more than a million per year with his new contract, and the total money that Scotty Hopson, Kostas Vasileiadis and Zoran Planinic are owed this year is nowhere near close to what only Jordan Farmar made last season.

Efes also didn’t resign with Sasha Vujacic, who had one of the highest salaries in the club, and looking for ways to dump the contracts of Esteban Batista and Stanko Barac.

On the other hand the new point guard Zoran Planinic, who will turn 31 before the new season, averaged 12.4 points, highly impressive 6.3 assists, and 3.9 rebound per game with Khimki in Euroleague last season.

Coach Mahmuti will be hoping for the Croatian on-court leader to keep doing the same that he’s been doing for almost a decade.
