Derrick Rose talked about playing against OJ Mayo in high school, before entering the NBA in 2008.

Rose said he was chasing Mayo’s footsteps for most of his high school career.

“I got a chance to play against Juice. And he was my measuring stick. It was unreal. He was tiers above everyone else on the floor. He knew what his game was and at that age, kids his age, we were just trying to figure it out.

He had handles, the step back. He had pro moves at a young age. I knew I wasn’t there. It just showed, man, I got to step my shit up,” Rose told Michael Lee of The Athletic.
