The second round of Eurobasket Women began today as the spotlight shone on Group F in Vendee.

Czech Republic 66-55 Great Britain

Czech Republic defeated Great Britain 66-55 in the day’s first game as both sides played out a scrappy affair.

Michela Zrustova led the winners with 20 points as their fairly accurate shooting from three-point range was the main difference between the two sides as they shot 52 percent from behind the arc, compared to GB’s 18 percent.

Jo Leedham led the Brits with solid figures of 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

Serbia 54-48 Belarus

Serbia shocked Belarus in the day’s second game by defeating them 54-48 in another scrappy contest where defence ruled.

Despite the defensive battle, Serbia turned the game on its head by hitting four triples to establish a double-digit advantage and put the game beyond Belarus, despite a late fightback from the Belarussians.

Anastasiya Verameyenka led Belarus with 12 points.

Croatia 70-78 France

France were pushed to the limit against a stubborn Croatia but eventually came out on top 78-70.

Leading 43-19, the hosts looked in firm control, but the Croats took control in the second half by dropping 30 points in the third, but the French hung on for the win.

Edwige Lawson-Wade led a very balanced scoring attack with 12 points as all 12 players got on the scoresheet. Ana Lelas led all scorers in vain for Croatia with 18.
