Neven Spahija will be making the calls from Cibona Zagreb bench next season. The 50-year-old coach spent 12 years abroad since he left Cibona in 2001.

During this period Spahija coached such teams as Maccabi Tel Aviv, TAU Ceracima (currently Laboral Lutxa), Fenerbahce, Lietuvos Rytas, Valencia and others.

In 2010 Spahija led Valencia to Eurocup title. During his career he has also won championships in six European countries (Croatia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Israel, Spain, Turkey) as well a number of national cup titles.

Cibona, a regular participant in Euroleague, lost its place before 2011/2012 season and hasn’t returned there yet. However, the club has high ambitions and that played a major part in Spahija’s decision to return home.
