France center Ali Traore has pulled out of this summer’s Eurobasket in Slovenia with a knee injury.

The 28-year-old picked up the injury last month and has missed the final games for his club side Alba Berlin. He announced the decision on Twitter in response to a French journalist who asked Traore if he would pull out?

“[It’s a] very difficult decision but I think it’s the right one,” Traore replied, effectively confirming his absence from the big event in September in Slovenia.

Traore’s first major tournament as a senior international was at Eurobasket 2009 in Poland and the 6’8 center has been a mainstay every summer since. He did injure his left knee during London 2012 and was sidelined for the rest of the calendar year.
