Kostas Koufos has decided to work on his game during the summer instead of representing his own country at Eurobasket and won’t join up with Greece.
The decision was taken a few hours ago and it is most certain that will shock Andrea Trinchieri and the Greek Basketball Federation who were counting on him.
Koufos was intended to be the starting center of the team in Eurobasket 2013, after having his best career season at Denver Nuggets.
Instead the Greek international opted to work with Denver coaches in the US, adding his name to a long list of names who will skip the Slovenia Eurobasket.
It is worth mentioning that the Greek Basketball Federation’s policy stipulates that a player who refuses to play for the national team is sanctioned and reported to FIBA, something which was previously done to Loukas Mavrokefalides.
